Lubricant as a primer: good or bad idea?
A new trend is settling more and more on TikTok: the lubricant used as a foundation before makeup. Real alternative or tendency to flee?
After the accentuated dark circles, the blush on the nose and the exaggerated foundation, TikTok ignites with a new makeup trend: the lubricant used as a makeup base. The #lubprimer is turning more and more on the new video platform. The opinion of TikTokeurs is unanimous: the result is superb! The lubricant would make a glowing complexion and the makeup would hold perfectly.
The primer, also called foundation, is used before the foundation. It is made to smooth the texture of the skin and hold makeup, reducing excess sebum on the face. It can be in the form of a cream, gel or spray. But it looks like TikTok has found a sexier alternative… lube! Its silicone texture, viscous and sticky, is very similar to primers and foundation bases.
The lubricant, intended for more intimate activities, is basically not made to be used on the face... So, using lubricant as a primer for makeup: good or bad idea?
The opinion of dermatologist and venerologist Nina Roos
"The lubricant is a product compatible with the skin but it is not intended to be applied to this area. It is reserved for the intimate sphere. In general, it is not recommended to divert a product from its primary use".
Are there any risks?
"You should not regularly put lubricant on your face, otherwise you can unbalance the functioning of the skin, cause redness, irritation and especially acne by completely clogging the sebaceous glands with the silicone texture. There are certain beauty tips that can help out, but they should not be used daily”.
On the good advice of Dr. Nina Roos, we recommend these primers and foundation bases to prepare your skin properly and fix your makeup with suitable products.
